The Traditional Customs and Modern Celebrations of Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals. It falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, when the moon is believed to be the fullest and brightest. This year, I had the opportunity to experience the traditional customs and modern celebrations of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

In the traditional customs, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for family reunions. People would gather with their loved ones and enjoy a hearty meal together. Mooncakes, a traditional pastry filled with lotus seed paste or red bean paste and sometimes with salted egg yolk, are a must-have during this festival. They symbolize completeness and togetherness. Moreover, lanterns are an essential part of the Mid-Autumn Festival. People, especially children, would carry colorful lanterns and walk around the neighborhood, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere.

In addition to the traditional customs, modern celebrations have added new elements to the Mid-Autumn Festival. One of the most popular activities is admiring the moon. People would find a quiet place, such as a park or a rooftop, and gaze at the moon while enjoying the cool autumn breeze. Some even organize outdoor parties or concerts under the moonlight. Another modern tradition is the lantern festival. Elaborate lantern displays are set up in parks or public squares, attracting crowds of visitors who come to appreciate the beautiful lanterns and take photos.

This year, I celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with my family and friends. During the day, we prepared a sumptuous feast, including traditional dishes and mooncakes. We shared stories and laughter while enjoying the delicious food. As night fell, we lit lanterns and went for a moonlit walk in a nearby park. The sight of colorful lanterns illuminating the night sky was truly mesmerizing. We also joined the lantern festival in the city center, where we marveled at the giant lantern sculptures and enjoyed the lively performances.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is not only a time for celebration but also a time for reflection and gratitude. It reminds us of the importance of family and loved ones. It is a time to cherish the moments spent together and to express our love and appreciation for one another. Whether through the traditional customs or modern celebrations, the Mid-Autumn Festival brings people closer and creates lasting memories.

In conclusion, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a significant festival in Chinese culture. It combines traditional customs with modern celebrations, creating a unique and vibrant atmosphere. Whether through family reunions, mooncake feasts, lantern walks, or moon gazing, the Mid-Autumn Festival brings people together and fosters a sense of unity and joy.

最新中秋节英语作文范文

The mid-autumn festival has all interesting history。 long ago in one of the dynasties of china there was a king who was very cruel to the people and did not manage the country well。 the people were so angry that some brave ones suggested killing the king。 so th

ey wrote notes telling about the meeting place and time and put them into cakes。 on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month every person was told to buy the cakes。 when they ate them they discovered the notes。 so they gathered together to make a sudden attack on the king。 from then on the chinese people celebrate on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month and eat "moon cakes" in memory of that important event。

When the mid-autumn festival is near, shop windows are beautifully decorated。 many "moon cakes" are displayed for people to buy。 people send presents such aswine, fruits and "moon cakes" to their friends and relatives。 in the evening of the day, they have a feast。 after the feast, they go out to the garden to look at the moon。 the children run and laugh on the streets。

It is believed that the moon is at her brightest on this night。 many poems have been written about it, and poets are never tired of reading and writing such poems。 in chinese literature, the moon of the mid autumn festival has been compared to a looking-glass, a jade rabbit, and so on。 it seems that chinese literature takes far more interest in the moon than in the sun。
